A Bit About Us
Lykens Companies is approaching two decades of business in the Short North and surrounding Columbus neighborhoods. As the biggest property owner in the Short North, we’ve had the distinct privilege of not only watching the area transform, but also spearheading its growth into a nationally recognized Arts District (did you know that the Short North was mentioned in the New York Times?). And it’s not just property ownership. Lykens Companies takes part in the rehabilitation and redevelopment of various communities with an eye toward maintaining the historic buildings that give neighborhoods their personalities and their stories. Maybe you’ve already heard about one of our projects: The Wonder Bread Lofts.
For us, there is no cookie-cutter. For us, there is genuine care for the neighborhoods that we serve. For us, the hard work of keeping a neighborhood’s look, feel, and history is worth everything that goes into it.
Why a Blog?
So, what does a property business do with a blog? Well, when you’re in the business of community development, community comes first. So, as Lykens Companies walks the walk of making the Short North (and the rest of Columbus) into one of America’s most unique and lively destinations, we know that it is our obligation to connect the people therein with the information to nurture and excite their relationship with the community around them.
This weekly blog will be a way for us to:
- Announce our latest projects, partnerships, and developments (like this one)
- Highlight Columbus’s great local businesses, restaurants, upcoming events, and other need-to-know info
- Give advice on what we know best—renting, showcasing, and perfecting your home (check out our Instagram for proof)
- Share the Lykens culture, our stories, the histories behind our buildings, and even more
So yes, Lykens Companies is almost two decades into business. And yes, we’ve already accomplished a lot, but for us, it feels like we’re just getting started, so please, join us, follow us, and engage with us as we continue to grow closer and closer toward our vision of building and expanding the Columbus community into one that’s unforgettable.
