When Lykens Companies goes about completing a building’s remodel, it doesn’t hold back. Front to back, floor to ceiling, the job gets done.
Usually, we end up highlighting our kitchens when we post photos of our remodeled apartments and rentals. And why not? After all, we’re using top-grade granite from Distinctive Marble & Granite, showcasing mocha-stained maple cabinetry, and outfitting the entire kitchen with premium equipment—from gas ranges to high-efficiency dishwashers.
Yet, we’d be fools not to show off our bathrooms. Here’s what makes our remodeled bathrooms special.
But first, just a little bit about Lykens Companies.
With 20 years (and counting) of experience, we believe that Lykens Companies is just getting started on its mission to offer Columbus hundreds of premier apartments, rentals, and renovations. Each day, we are driving toward constantly expanding and improving our business and bettering Columbus, the city we love. For our renters, that means that they are connected to a proven business that is always striving to be the best. Our success isn’t an accident. We are constantly striving to improve our quality, both in the buildings that we renovate, reimagine, and rent out; moreover, we are striving to improve in the way that our business operates. For you, that means the best units and the best service in the best locations.
As we invest our time, money, and energy into the Short North, Victorian Village, Italian Village, and other parts of Columbus’s urban core, it’s nothing short of amazing to step back and see how much we’re able to impact our city, whether that looks like renovating apartments, houses, or even factories like the Wonder Bread Lofts and the forthcoming Budd Dairy project: a full scale reimagining of an old dairy factory into a Cameron Mitchell food hall and state-of-the-art coworking space.
If you’re looking to rent in Columbus, Ohio’s urban core, you’ve come to the right place. Below, you’ll find some of our favorite bathrooms from some of our favorite rental units, but if you don’t see anything here that you love, be sure to see our other available rentals and find something that suits your taste.
Back to our bathrooms…
If Lykens Companies remodels an apartment or rental, it means that you can (and should) expect a masterpiece.
Like our kitchens, each of our bathrooms features granite from Distinctive Marble & Granite. This decision yields something special: a vanity displaying the elegance and personality of the highest rated granite. When one of our kitchens features the same granite as our bathrooms, it creates a masterful, stylish pairing.
But our bathrooms are more than just a sink.
This isn’t your grandmother’s wallpapered water closet.
Our “wow-factor” is simple yet resonate. Unless your own reflection in the mirror distracts you, you’ll notice our jaw-dropping floor-to-ceiling tile work. This bold decision isn’t as overpowering as you might think; in fact, it gives a modern overtone to the entire room.
A few of our favorite bathrooms…
Wonder Bread Loft #117
Notice how this bathroom highlights the simple elegance we’ve been talking about. On their own, none of this bathroom’s features announce themselves too much. For instance, the glass shower door doesn’t have anything special about it, nor does the toilet; however, as each of these elements blend together, this bathroom finds a special personality. In this Wonder Bread Loft, its floor is a polished concrete. With this unique design and sheen, you’d think it might be a material that’s closer to a granite or marble. Instead, it’s the building’s original historic material. When you treat a place with care and respect, even its unglamorous materials can pop. Check this unit’s availability.
Wonder Bread Loft #121
Units aren’t the same just because they’re housed in the Wonder Bread Lofts. A side by side of unit 117 and 121 is a great example. Wonder Bread Loft 121 features a completely different cut of granite that’s chosen to complement the polished concrete floor and mirror frame. Almost like looking into the swirls and color of a rippling coy pond, Wonder Bread Loft 121’s vanity seems to extend on forever. Moreover, Lykens Companies has even chosen a different type and grout in this bathroom’s design. While unit 117 was made perfect with a sand colored tile choice, 121’s pronounced gray floor-to-ceiling tile has a pronounced look. For those needing extra storage space, 121 also provides the practical advantage of having a lot of cabinet space. Of course, Lykens Companies has hidden such storage space behind a touch of luxury: mocha-stained maple woodwork, an echo of the unit’s kitchen cabinets. Check this unit’s availability.
Wonder Bread Loft #130
Here’s a lesson from Design 101: always be adaptable. If you can’t adapt to a new space and plop the same cookie cutter design on anything and everything, you’ll end up being predictable and boring. Like we’ve pointed out, each of our 66 Wonder Bread Lofts is completely unique. Unit 130 offered a much higher ceiling than other Wonder Bread Loft bathrooms. Instead of going with floor to ceiling tile all over, we employed the tiling sparingly—wrapping it around the shower and extending it across one accent wall. We then painted the rest of the walls white and added a huge frameless mirror across the sink and vanity. These weren’t accidental decision. Each movement in this bathroom was planned around emphasizing this bathroom’s sense of space. Chrome elements and a sleek granite further energize the room. We couldn’t be happier with this finished product. Oh, and who could be mad about a washer and dryer right in your bathroom? Check this unit’s availability.
1374 East Broad Street
This one is special. The units at 1374 East Broad Street might be our most historical ever (sorry, Wonder Bread). These huge townhomes have the 1950s flavor you never knew you wanted. When we renovated this bathroom, we had one goal: don’t mess it up. All of its originality was what we loved about it! Its tiling had been preserved like it was in a museum. We wanted to work with the unit’s history as much as we could. We polished the chrome and added 50s inspired LEDs, but other than that, the unit’s bathroom really just spoke for itself. With its historical style and chic design, this isn’t one to pass up. Check this unit’s availability.
