Make your bathroom pop!
If you’re getting ready to move into a new apartment or rental this summer, then you’re probably already fantasizing about how to do some DIY decorating to transform your new spot into your dream home.
Trust us. We love decorating apartments and we adore the various ways our residents transform our spaces into jaw-dropping homes.
If you’re moving into a new space (or just wanting to reinvent your current home), you might be thinking that the best place to start decorating is in your living room or kitchen. If you ask us, we actually suggest beginning home decorating in your bathroom.

Why? Bathrooms are smaller spaces. That means they’re easier to start and finish. Plus, less space means less money spent on decor and, best of all, you can experiment with different styles more easily until you find something that’s perfect for you.
So what are the best ways to decorate a bathroom? Keep reading to find out.

1. Keep It Simple
This is not a suggestion for all bathrooms. Sometimes, you need to put in some work on a bathroom that’s just not as ideal as others (we’ll talk about those later). But if you’re living in one of the luxurious Lykens Companies bathrooms, we suggest working with what’s already in the space to highlight it.
Some of our units have granite vanities, sleek glass sliding doors, and floor-to-ceiling tile work. If that’s the case, then what more can you really do to make your bathroom exquisite?

We suggest keeping it simple. Choose a consistent color on towels and floor rugs to make your granite pop. Polish metal elements to make them shine and make sure that your area is always tidy.
2. Add Some Green
Placing a houseplant in a bathroom is a great way to bring positive energy to your space. Not only do they bring lively personalities and unique looks, but they can also end up filtering the air that you breath. There’s even a NASA study about which houseplants filter air the best.
Any bathroom will benefit from the easy styling that comes from adding a houseplant. For extra flair, make sure that your plant’s pot flows with the space around it.
Houseplants are great, but not all are ready for the ever-changing humidity of a bathroom. Here’s a list of the best houseplants for your bathroom.
3. More Than One Mirror
Yes, your bathroom probably already has one large mirror, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t want more. Adding more mirrors helps light poorly lit rooms, creates a bigger sense of space, and can even be useful (think about how convenient a full-length mirror is before a night on the town).
4. Creative Storing
Storing seems boring. Usually, it is. In your bathroom, don’t settle for just shoving things under the sink. Take advantage of your need to store items and make the most of it.
Adding a rustic wooden ladder to a bathroom is one of the most stylish ways to hang towels, in our opinion. It’s a great option for shared bathrooms, too, where towel racks might be hard to find.

Don’t be afraid of those colorful stackable containers you’ve seen at IKEA and Target either. Let’s face it: bathrooms are cluttered with odds and ends more than any other room. Those little bottles of eyeliner aren’t doing anything for your room’s decor. Well done stackable containers can add life to a room and help you stay more organized.
5. Buy Stylishly
Buy stylishly? What does this mean? It means that it’s time to make the most out of the bath products that you buy. Professional graphic designers are the ones who design the bottles of soap that you display in your bathroom. Why not choose a design (and a scent) that you really love? It won’t just smell great, but it’s something that will actually accentuate the design that you’re trying to achieve in your bathroom.
If you’re not willing to dish out a few extra bucks for nice packaging, consider investing in or reusing stylish glass bottles. Fill them with soap, buy a pump, and create a stylish way of dispensing soap on your sink.
