Modern Southern Table
Meet Sadaya “Daisy” Lewis.
She’s the 2014 winner of Food Network‘s “Food Court Wars.” She holds an M.B.A. from Capital University. She has a celebrated family history of food. And now she’s the owner of Modern Southern Table, Budd Dairy’s go-to for authentic southern fare.
“I can’t wait to share a good, wholesome meal with the people of Columbus, a community I’ve considered to be family for a long time,” says Lewis. “I’m looking forward to sharing meals made from scratch and with love—meals that will remind people of home.”
Lewis’s food reminds her of her own childhood. Nostalgic flavors bring back the memory of her grandmother teaching Lewis all she needed to know about cooking a fantastic meal.
Lewis remembers each step and now brings her own flavors to classic dishes. Look forward to eating Modern Southern Table’s award-winning fried chicken, her delicious gumbo, mouth-watering mac ‘n’ cheese, and a rotation of other southern classics.
We can’t wait to try Modern Southern Table this fall inside Budd Dairy Food Hall. Until then, check out its menu.
Alphabetical Comfort Kitchen
From food truck to food hall, Jordan Lamatrice has had quite a journey. His love for cooking began during a time in his life where he felt that things just weren’t working out the way he’d hoped.
Soon after, he took matters into his own hands and opened Alphabetical Comfort Kitchen, a food truck that focused on serving creative combinations of fresh ingredients.
So what exactly are we talking about? Just listen to Lamatrice’s description of his favorite sandwich, The Braised and Confused. “It’s a savory braised beef that’s topped with caramelized onions, sweet and tangy Jicama slaw, and a cheddar cheese blend,” says Jordan. “Between the crunchy sweetness of the slaw and the tenderness of the beef—plus the caramelized onions—this sandwich makes my mouth water just talking about it.”
And there’s more where that came from. More we can’t wait for.
Lamatrice is excited to learn from Cameron Mitchell Restaurants during his time in the Budd Dairy Food Hall, but we’re even more happy to have him this fall. Until then, savor his menu here.
